Cartimar Shopping Center is named as one of the best visited markets in the Philippines. Shop the cheapest but high quality clothes and shoes here. Situated between high-rise buildings and small businesses in Pasay City – one of the most populated cities in Metro Manila. It might seem like your typical marketplace but it gives a lot more. People often visited here to buy goods or to window shop.
Dating back to the 1950s, this has been the go-to spot for designer shoes, perfumes, grocery stores, pet shops, and even surplus stock of big-brand items. Name anything and you’ll find them here. Everything is dirt-cheap just like in other bargain stores. Wet and dry markets are available. The highlight of this shopping market is their pet center. You’ll find even the most expensive breeds of pets you can think of. Bookworms enjoy the area as well, because they can find art books, college textbooks, and stacks of novels at reasonable prices.
During the 70’s – 80’s, Cartimar was a home for shopping enthusiasts. However, soon as new expansive malls opened, stalls and stores soon found themselves gaining less customers and profit. Today, it is also swamped by rental issues between management and some 200 tenants – a clear manifestation of stall and store owners’ struggles. Particularly when the Covid struck the world in 2020, a lot of the lessor and lessee had no choice but to close their businesses with heavy hearts. However, as time went by and the restrictions became a little loose, people began to come back to their favorite places.
Cartimar shopping center soon enough started gaining more renters and customers back. Revenue of businesses began rising back again. Some influencers featured the market’s pet plaza as well as cat and dog lovers started growing. I myself, as an owner of 5 dogs, want to visit the market sometime when possible.

Still, even when the pandemic strikes, a lot of people find ways to order their favorite addicting caffeinated drink. Although coffee shops are rarely seen in Cartimar, surprisingly a coffee shop-roastery came on the scene amidst pandemic.
Entering inside will wake your senses upon smelling the aroma of brewing coffees. Astonishingly enough, they were able to create an aesthetically pleasing store inside a public market. Aside from drinks, they also sell some coffee-making machines and barista kits displayed on shelves. You may buy your own coffee bean and grind them in your own convenience. Some well-sewn barista aprons are also hanged on display. The menu is very affordable as you can find drinks and pastires ranging from Php 130 – Php 300.
